Job description
Overview

Cowan Insurance Group is looking for a highly qualified Commercial Account Representative to join our Commercial Insurance Team. This role reports to the Vice President, Programs & Small Business Solutions and works closely with the Sales Consultant and Commercial Account Assistant on new and existing clients. The goal is to build and maintain relationships with existing and new clients to maximize retention and identify future opportunities across all lines of business in Cowan Insurance Group. Some programs currently managed by the team include condominium, driving schools, limousine, beauticians, and self storage.

What you will do
  • Responsible for all aspects of service on the assigned book of business
  • Manage renewal information gathering from clients and ensure all necessary applications are completed on renewal
  • Negotiate renewal and endorsement terms with insurance carriers
  • Review new business and renewal policies to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Make recommendations to clients for coverage enhancements identified during renewal review
  • Manage day-to-day requests from clients and insurance companies
  • Complete complex Certificates of Insurance for clients
  • Request endorsements, including additions and deletions to policies, and provide support when needed to the Account Assistant for final processing
  • Maintain accurate account billing and correct accounting discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Responsible for accounts receivable on the assigned book of business and following accounts receivable procedures
  • Contribute to the client relationship by providing customer service excellence in all client dealings and attend client meetings as required
  • Provide backup support to other members of the program team as required
  • Maintain knowledge of all CIG lines of business by attending information sessions to successfully suggest referrals for cross-sell opportunities
  • Attend industry events related to the program as required
What you will bring
  • RIBO license required
  • 2 to 3 years of previous insurance experience
  • Experience in servicing commercial insurance accounts
  • Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)
  • Experience with EPIC would be an asset
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of client exposures
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills
  • Ability to manage high volume while maintaining attention to detail
  • Professional, proactive, and positive work attitude is essential
  • CAIB or CIP designations (or working toward designations) would be an asset
