About the Opportunity

Mental Health & Addictions is hiring Clinical Therapists (CT) across the portfolio in different service areas, including the following:

Community Outpatient Mental Health & Addictions - Adult The Clinical Therapist provides assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. The Clinical Therapist carries out the general duties of the Adult Service team but in addition to those duties, participates in quality initiatives in the program of care, engages in collaborative person-centered care, and utilizes available information technology to support best practice.

Child & Adolescent Services The Clinical Therapist, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, is responsible for the delivery of time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to children and youth with Tier-3 mental disorders and substance use disorders. All services are provided within a Stepped Care framework and practice is guided by disorder-based clinical care pathways. Each clinician participates in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments.

SchoolsPlus The Clinical Therapist provides services directly in the school community environment within the designated SchoolsPlus schools. SchoolsPlus is a collaborative model that is comprehensive and student focused. Partners work together to educate and provide service to the child and their family, with the school as the center of the service.

Urgent Care The Clinical Therapist provides advanced assessment, intervention, brief follow up and care planning for crisis/urgent care clients across the lifespan, with the goal of stabilization and connection to necessary Mental Health & Addictions services as required. The majority of consults are from the Emergency Department but may also come from other services or departments both internal and external to Nova Scotia Health.

Clinical Virtual Care Team The Clinical Therapist will provide assessment, psychotherapy, group facilitation, and consultation via virtual technologies to youth (12 and above) and adults with mental health and substance use disorders. The ability to deliver evidence-based individual and group interventions is required. As well, the incumbent will be required to work collaboratively with other service providers and community agencies in the context of providing care.

About You

We want to hear from you if you have the following:

    • Master’s Degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology, Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, or Masters in Occupational Therapy)
    • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body or eligible
    • Minimum two (2) years'related experience required including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning
      • Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience required. If not available, candidates with less than two (2) years of experience may be considered for the selection process. If offered employment, they will be placed on the Clinical Therapist (Developmental) scale.
    • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

Various permanent, assignments (temporary), casual relief (no guarantee of hours), and opportunities available in various locations throughout Nova Scotia.

Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

You will be given the opportunity to specify your work hours and location preferences in the application.

Compensation and Benefits

Clinical Therapist
$40.18 - $54.14 hourly

Clinical Therapist (Developmental)
$35.83 - $46.37 hourly

Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
