Shared Health is seeking motivated individuals to fill the role of Flex Attending for Children’s Hospital. This role will primarily consist of shifts based in Children’s Emergency (CHED) in the evening and overnight hours seven days/week, with occasional support provided during daytime hours.
Duties on shift include:
The role of Flex Attending requires completion of residency training in Pediatrics. Flex Attendings are part of the Children’s Emergency team and welcome to participate in all Continuing Medical Education opportunities offered by CHED, including Acute Care Skills Days and semi-monthly virtual CME sessions. The Flex Attending will be supported in maintenance of airway and resuscitation skills for resuscitation events occurring outside of CHED.
The HSC Winnipeg Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pediatric care, including general pediatrics and all pediatric subspecialties. As the only children’s hospital in Manitoba, the centre provides care for pediatric patients from throughout Manitoba, northwestern Ontario, and the Kivalliq region of Nunavut. A dedicated Children’s Emergency Department sees approximately 50,000 children and adolescents annually, with patients arriving from both local and remote areas as well as by referral from other regional sites.

Compensation:
Remuneration occurs via an alternate funding arrangement and is paid at a generous fixed hourly rate. No fee-for-service billing, shadow or otherwise, is required or allowed.
The physician will be considered an independent contractor and thus responsible for all professional and medical liability, income tax liability, and any other liability or business expenses arising from professional work associated with this role. Benefits such as life and disability insurance, dental coverage, supplementary health coverage, CME allowance, vacation pay, and pension are not provided for contractor positions.
