Job summary

A regional retirement community in Comox Valley is looking for a part-time Bus Driver to assist during outings. This role includes maintaining the bus, ensuring it meets safety standards, and communicating with the facility and staff. Candidates must provide proof of personal and professional insurance, comply with operational policies, and have a clean criminal record. This contract position requires a commitment of 8 hours per week and attention to detail regarding bus maintenance and cleanliness.

Qualifications

  • Proof of annual criminal records check.
  • Proof of G.S.T. Registrant Status where applicable.
  • Proof of Sole Proprietorship or Incorporation where applicable.
  • Proof of personal insurance up to $2,000,000.
  • Proof of professional insurance up to $2,000,000 where applicable.
  • Proof of any applicable membership or license registration required by the jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the WCSHM Bus Policy and Code of Conduct Policy.
  • Assist recreation staff during outings.
  • Maintain cell phone communication for the facility.
  • Ensure bus maintenance and repairs are performed.
  • Arrive at outings 15 minutes prior to departure.
  • Clean the bus after outings according to schedule.
  • Contact management in case of inclement weather.
Job description
Part-Time - 8 hours per week

This is a Contract position and the successful candidate will be required to have their own insurance (as listed below)

Summary Of Position
  • To adhere to all specifications and details of the West Coast Seniors Housing Management (WCSHM) Bus Policy and the WCSHM Code of Conduct Policy.
  • To provide assistance to recreation staff as needed during outings.
  • To incur and maintain the costs of a cell phone for the purpose of communication with the facility/staff.
  • To maintain a professional appearance by adhering to the dress code of dress pants, button up collar shirt and name tag.
  • To ensure bus is up to date with all maintenance and repairs, book appointments at garage, pick up/drop off bus for appointments. All repairs need prior approval from the Recreation Manager or General Manager.
  • To arrive at outings departure location a minimum of 15 minutes prior to departure time.
  • To clean out the interior of the bus following every outing, wiping all touchpoints with antibacterial cleaner and wash the exterior of the bus according to seasonal cleaning schedule (cost of cleaning would be reimbursed with submitted receipt).
  • In the event of inclement weather to contact Recreation Manager/General Manager to determine whether safe to do outing. If cancellation of outing occurs for any reason after driver is on the property, driver will be paid for a minimum of 1 hour.

  • Proof of any applicable membership or license registration required by the jurisdiction within which the Facility is located; and Workers’ Compensation Account Number (WSB in B.C)
