New Miles Immigration, Recruitment & Consulting Services is actively seeking a bookkeeper with specialization in Accounts Payable (AP) on behalf of a South Burnaby, BC-based service company. This company specializes in accounting and logistics services and is experiencing rapid growth and expansion.

The position is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, or candidates with valid full-time work authorization in Canada. Should the selected candidate demonstrate strong competence, an excellent work attitude, and a solid work performance throughout the first year, there may be opportunities for long-term employment and support for permanent residency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain records of financial transactions for account balancing
    • Creating accounts
    • Verifying, allocating, processing, and posting transactions
    • Sending payment confirmations/remittances
    • Reconciliation
      • Vendor Statements
      • Company bank accounts
      • System reconciliation of general- and sub-ledgers
  • Communication
    • Contacting vendors and other staff about transactions and documents
    • Resolving issues with orders, invoices, credits, etc.
  • Organization
    • Organizing email based on categories for easier tracking/searching
    • Document organization (both digital and physical)
  • Making payments in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Dynamic 365 system by generating payment journals, exporting remittances, and generating EFT files
  • Writing and filing standard operating procedures as required
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information
    • e.g., weekly payment summaries, spending reports, etc.
  • Maintain traceable historical records through document filing
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • At least two years of college education with a diploma or degree are required;
  • Relevant experience and a deep understanding of developing standards, information analysis and data entry standards are required;
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and Shopify or similar program is required, familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 an asset;
  • Expertise on Microsoft Office Suite 365 (most importantly Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams) is required;
  • Typing speed of 40 words per minute is required, 40wpm+ an asset;
  • Strict discretion and confidentiality.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Start at $19 per hour and can be increased up to $26 per hour based on seniority and performance;
