Must have experience in Railway (freight cars and locomotives). Must be Bilingual with Both French and English
The Electrical Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing the electrical systems of locomotives, including traction motors, generators, and control systems. The individual will work closely with mechanical teams, clients, and suppliers, while also contributing to the development of team skills. The role requires a strong understanding of complex electrical systems, advanced analytical capabilities, and a high level of precision and safety awareness.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise in trouble shooting electrical issues with locomotives, including malfunctions in traction motors, generators, control systems, and other electrical components.
- Identify problematic systems/parts to ascertain performance failures using diagnostic and faultfinding techniques.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Assist in the development of modifications and equipment testing.
- Interface with client and supplier technical staff to identify technical reliability solutions.
- Work with mechanical teams to address system integrations and performance enhancements.
- Write technical reports, intervention reports and maintain technical documentation.
- Work with, evaluate and participate with the training necessary to develop the workforce to be a safe/efficient & skilled team.
- Provide the necessary coaching, mentoring and hands on training
- Participate in training programs to stay current with technological advancements in locomotive electrical systems.
Required Qualifications:
- DEC in Electrical Engineering Technology or relevant experience
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar position
- Ability to read with accuracy diesel engine manuals, locomotive schematics, service bulletins, maintenance instructions and other craft related documentation.
- Ability to read and understand FRA and company rules, specifications and guidelines.
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD
- Good organizational skills, autonomy, attention to detail, and rigor
- Ability to work under pressure and good priority management
- Attention to detail, precision, analytical skills, autonomy, and good interpersonal skills
- Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written.
