Overview

Band 5 Staff Nurse - Oncology Outpatients. Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary cancer care team, you will ensure effective coordination of ambulatory cancer care services which optimises patient safety, experience and clinical outcomes, supports clinical and professional development of junior staff, and maintains compliance with NMC standards.

Main duties

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse within the Ambulatory Cancer Care Unit (Level 3), you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT) and supportive care treatments such as blood product support for a range of oncology and haemato-oncology diagnoses.

Job Title: Band 5 Staff Nurse
Department: Ambulatory Cancer Care Unit
Location: The Duchess of Devonshire Wing, 22 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6JA
Salary: £40,000 to £45,500 per annum
Job Type: Permanent, Full time
Hours: 37.5 per week, across four long days (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6.00pm). No nights or weekends.

Key Duties
  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care to achieve excellent clinical outcomes for patients receiving SACT and supportive treatments.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve a seamless and person-centred patient journey.
  • Assess, plan, and evaluate care to achieve high standards of practice and safety.
  • Engage in structured training and development to achieve competency in IV therapy and chemotherapy administration.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement to achieve service excellence across cancer care.
Skills and Experience
  • NMC Registered Nurse (Adult).
  • Previous oncology experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with emotional intelligence.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and committed to professional growth.
  • A team player who demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and resilience.

Qualifications

Experience
  • Experience in an acute clinical healthcare setting, preferably within an acute medical or surgical specialty, oncology ward or chemotherapy unit.
