Position Summary:

CSN Collision is looking for an Auto Body Technician to join our team. The Auto Body Technician is responsible for taking a vehicle in a damaged state and repairing or restoring it to its original structural integrity, function, and appearance. The incumbent must be detail-oriented and capable of multitasking to accommodate shifting priorities.

Primary Objectives of the Auto Body (Collision Repair) Technician:

  1. Review damage reports and estimates of repair costs, and plan the work to be performed.
  2. Thoroughly examine collision damage, review all exterior body parts, check power accessories, and ensure no warning lights are on. Identify any prior damages overlooked on the QA checklist or supplemental damage sheet.
  3. Perform structural and complete body repairs, including repairing and replacing front end components, body parts, doors, frames, and underbody components.
  4. Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment, hammer out dents, buckles, and other defects.
  5. Weld on vehicles using MIG welders and compression spot welders.
  6. Fully dismantle damaged vehicle areas to identify all hidden damages early in the repair cycle.
  7. File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power and hand tools.
  8. Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting, apply primers, and repaint surfaces.
  9. Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents, and seams.
  10. Restore vehicle to factory/OEM specifications.
  11. Inspect repaired vehicles and conduct test drives to ensure proper handling.
  12. Read and understand repair estimates and procedures.
  13. Work with various metals, plastics, glass, electrical, and mechanical parts.
  14. Use frame and measuring equipment, disassemble and reassemble vehicles.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  1. Auto Body Repair and refinishing experience - 3+ years required.
  2. Auto Body Collision and Damage Repairer (310B) Red Seal License (310Q) preferred or in a registered apprenticeship program.
  3. Certifications such as I-Car and OEM are favorable.
  4. I-Car Welding certification preferred.
  5. Physical ability to carry, lift (up to 100 lbs), stand, sit, walk, reach.
  6. Valid driver's license required.
  7. Own tools and safety footwear.
  8. Up-to-date compliance training (AODA, WHMIS, Worker Health and Safety, Workplace Violence and Harassment, PIPEDA).
  9. 3 to 5 years of working knowledge of Mitchell / Audatex.
