The Municipal Group of Companies is comprised of more than 30 operating companies in the civil construction, waste management, mining, transportation, and courier industries with operations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec and outside Canada. We are seeking a term Associate Lawyer for a start date of June 1, 2026 with end date of September 6, 2027 and the possibility of joining our legal team full-time at the end of the term. The successful candidate will provide a range of legal services and support to the other members of the legal team, reporting to the Vice President and General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviewing, drafting, and assisting with the negotiation of commercial agreements.
  • Assisting with the preparation of bids, tenders and other time-sensitive submissions.
  • Identifying and summarizing legal and business issues.
  • Taking part in policy development and other projects.
  • Providing day-to-day support to individual business units and other departments including Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and IT.
Qualifications
  • A law degree.
  • The ability to collaborate with other members of the legal team and deliver high quality work product, often on short timelines.
  • The ability to collaborate with other professionals and to digest technical materials.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills and sound judgment.
