The Patient Flow Coordinator (PFC) is a centralized zone role in direct collaboration with demand capacity services 24/7. As an IOC PFC you are responsible for collaborating with EMS Supervisors to promote optimal patient flow by facilitating effective management of patient transport and admission via EMS and RAAPID North. Utilizing community and acute care resources, the IOC PFC provides oversight to system flow and capacity in real time, monitors capacity, remediates bottlenecks, assigns destinations based on patient need and system capacity, leads virtual zone demand capacity calls, initiates escalation protocols (EZ-STEP) when significant bottlenecks are identified, and serves as a point of contact for Executive Leadership during worked hours.
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow, and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. You will provide frontline nursing care, take a leadership role in promoting quality patient care, and implement operational priorities. Your advanced judgment and clinical experience will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family‑centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
