Job Description

As a Mining Process Sector Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a defined scope within complex mining projects. You will lead a multidisciplinary team (engineering, procurement, construction, quality, HSE, etc.) and act as a technical expert in mining processes. You will be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle—from design to commissioning—ensuring performance, safety, regulatory compliance, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management and Sector Coordination
  • Lead a project sector in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage interfaces between disciplines and other project sectors.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, environmental, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Prepare execution plans, estimates, service proposals, and feasibility studies.
  • Monitor performance indicators (cost, schedule, quality, safety) with support from project controls.
  • Mining Process Engineering
  • Design and optimize processes related to ore extraction, treatment, water and tailings management.
  • Perform simulations, mass and heat balances, and equipment sizing.
  • Prepare technical documentation: PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, equipment specifications.
  • Identify process-related risks (e.g., HAZOP) and propose control measures.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship
  • Supervise and support intermediate and junior engineers.
  • Coordinate study, design, and construction teams.
  • Collaborate with vendors and evaluate technical proposals.
  • Participate in the review and approval of technical deliverables.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation
  • Integrate lessons learned and promote continuous process improvement.
  • Propose innovative solutions tailored to environmental and regulatory challenges.
  • Contribute to the optimization of processing circuits, ventilation, and tailings management.

Qualifications

Education and Professional Membership

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining, chemical, mechanical, metallurgical engineering or equivalent.

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • Strong knowledge of mining processes, equipment design, ventilation, water and tailings management.
  • Experience in CAPEX/OPEX project management and mechanical equipment integration.
  • Familiarity with applicable mining standards and codes (e.g., safety, environment, foundations).
  • Proficiency in specialized software (Plant3D, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills

  • Excellent communication skills in French and English.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with clients and partners.
  • Critical thinking, rigor, autonomy, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel to mining sites and inspect installations under real conditions.
