Position Summary: Install electrical control systems in new and existing buildings, including retrofit projects in a construction environment. Working conditions may include restricted movement, dirty environments, hazardous materials, moderate physical duties, and working at heights.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new and existing installations
  • Cut, bend, thread, and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings
  • Pull wire through conduits and ceiling spaces
  • Install, replace, and repair electrical control equipment such as relays, temperature sensors, actuators, and panels
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems, remove and replace faulty components
  • Splice, join, and connect wire to components to form complete control systems
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with Ainsworth Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Perform all job functions safely, abiding by all applicable health, safety, environmental policies, and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Inducted Apprentice in Alberta (1st-4th Year) with conduit experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent from a certified college
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology
  • Experience with HVAC, building electrical systems, and VFDs is an asset
  • Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to execute precision work
  • Experience in commercial/construction installations
  • Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
