- Organizes and provides developmentally appropriate early childhood education programs; plans and implements curriculum and education for children ranging in age from six weeks to twelve years old
- Adapting the program to suit the needs of the individual child or group
- Provides activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of children
- Consistently plans innovative ways of keeping children actively engaged
- Writes and compiles individual assessments of each child's development; completes daily inventories, child attendance, and related reports
- Ensuring the social and emotional growth of the child
- May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation
- Adhering to the guidelines of the Education Department and State
- Monitoring and supervising the children constantly
- Discuss the program’s daily events with family members at drop‑off and pick‑up times

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in early child development
- At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Certificate in early childhood education and care (CHC 30113), if pertinent to the state
- Ability to exercise patience when interacting with children
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- A caring and approachable nature
- Knowledge of early childhood education programs and techniques
- Must meet state‑specific guidelines
- Ability to work during the evening, and after‑hours, as needed
- Knowledge of applicable safety procedures
- Ability to provide activities for children that encourage healthy growth
