Overview

Our client, an awesome cybersecurity consultancy, is seeking an Application Security Engineer to contribute to the delivery of high-quality security assessments and secure software development. This position is ideal for a software engineer who has some appsec experience that wants to work in security full-time. The role supports the implementation of best practices across the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including secure design, risk assessment, and CI/CD security integration. The team collaborates with clients in finance, healthcare, e-commerce, and technology to enhance organizational security maturity. Our client fosters a culture of collaboration, analytical rigor, and continuous learning, providing an environment where engineers can develop both technical expertise and professional acumen.

What you will be doing:
  • Assist in the execution of application security assessments, including design analysis, code review, and penetration testing of web, mobile, and desktop applications.
  • Utilize both automated and manual testing methodologies to identify vulnerabilities and assess risk.
  • Support the development and maintenance of secure coding practices in collaboration with software engineering teams.
  • Conduct research on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and defensive techniques to support continuous improvement of security processes.
  • Engage in professional development activities, including technical training and participation in industry forums.
What you must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or STEM
  • Foundational experience in software development, ideally 2 years of more
  • 1 year or more of application security experience
  • Familiarity with secure software design principles, development methodologies, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, Golang, C#, Python, or C++.
  • Understanding of common security vulnerabilities, including the OWASP Top 10 and CWE Top 25.
  • Exposure to security testing tools and methodologies (e.g., static, dynamic, black-box, or white-box analysis).
  • Awareness of authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, or SAML.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret technical findings clearly.

Salary/Rate Range: $100,000 – $140,000
