Overview

Anticipated Full-Time Elementary School Teachers (K-8). School District No. 59 (Peace River South) is accepting applications for anticipated full-time teaching positions (1.0 FTE) for the 2026-2027 school year from qualified teachers at the elementary level. University Bachelor of Education students graduating this spring are encouraged to begin the application process now for full-time teaching positions in Dawson Creek, Chetwynd or Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. We are seeking teachers to be a part of our team.

The ideal teacher candidate begins with students at the heart of their practice; teaching the learner, not just the curriculum. They create inclusive classrooms where students of all abilities feel valued, supported, and challenged. We are seeking teachers who are open-minded professionals who collaborate, reflect, and continuously learn to improve their craft. Grounded in research-based practice and guided by care, they strive to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.

Responsibilities
  • Provide full-time instruction for elementary students (K-8) with a focus on student-centered learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan, reflect, and continuously improve teaching practice.
  • Implement inclusive teaching strategies to support students of all abilities.
  • Use evidence-based practices to support student learning and outcomes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Hold, or be qualified for, a valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate
  • Successful K-12 teacher training and practicum or evaluation documentation
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada

  • Experience adapting and modifying curriculum to meet diverse student needs
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized learning plans
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Experience working with students who display a variety of behaviours

Benefits and Additional Information
  • Relocation Allowance: Up to $5,000 for out-of-district applicants (with submission of approved receipts)
  • Northern Travel Allowance: Up to $4,000 as a Northern Allowance Travel benefit
  • Remote and Rural Allowance: Approximately $3,035 per FTE; TOCs are not eligible
  • The annual allowance may increase as defined within the Collective Agreement with the BC Teachers Federation
  • Did you know? Effective December 31, 2025, some teachers may be eligible for enhanced benefits as described by district policies
