Qualifications

  • 5 years licensed experience preferred.
  • Experience with Piper Navajos and light commuter aircraft.
  • Strong knowledge of piston engine maintenance.

  • Maintain and update aircraft technical records.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) M1/M2 - Aspen Air Charters

We’re looking for a Full Time Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) M1/M2 to join our team at the Kitchener/Waterloo airport (CYKF) to ensure our fleet operates at peak performance, maintaining the high safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aircraft Maintenance & Inspections – Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs in compliance with Transport Canada regulations and company policies.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Documentation – Maintain and update aircraft technical records in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
  • Parts & Inventory Management – Oversee inventory control, parts receiving, and stock organization as outlined in the Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM).
  • Regulatory Awareness – Stay informed on Transport Canada requirements and ensure all work meets the latest regulatory and industry standards.
  • Facility & Equipment Upkeep – Maintain the security, organization, and cleanliness of the hangar, tools, and company equipment.
  • Mentorship & Leadership – Support and mentor Apprentice AMEs, fostering skill development and technical growth.
  • Process Improvement – Identify and implement opportunities for enhanced efficiency in maintenance operations.
  • Coordination & Travel – Work closely with the operations team to schedule maintenance activities and travel as required for off-site inspections or repairs.

What You Bring

  • Licensing & ExperienceValid Transport Canada AME License (M1 required; M2 an asset). Preferred but not required, licensed experience (5 years preferred) and twin engine piston aircraft experience.
  • Aircraft Expertise – Proven experience with Piper Navajos and other light commuter aircraft. Strong knowledge of piston engine maintenance (structural/avionics experience is a plus).
  • Technical & Organizational Skills – Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while ensuring compliance with maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
  • Technology Proficiency – Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams) and experience with digital record-keeping and reporting (aviation-specific software is an asset).
  • Communication & Customer Service – Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Leadership & Teamwork – Experience leading maintenance activities and mentoring apprentices, with the ability to foster a strong team environment.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving – A proactive “can-do” attitude with the flexibility to adapt to operational needs and take on challenges as they arise.
  • Safety & Compliance Focus – Strong commitment to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and regulatory best practices.

What We Offer

  • $37.50–47.50 per hour, commensurate with experience
  • Per diem while away from base ($3 per hour)
