About the role

CMHC is committed to continuously improving our IT services and operational efficiency. The addition of new IT roles is a strategic move to bolster our capabilities and ensure we can meet the evolving needs of our clients and stakeholders.

Join the Enterprise Architecture and Artificial Intelligence team in the role of Advisor, Solutions Architect. In this role, you will enable architectural cohesion across multiple domains by translating enterprise strategies into integrated architectural guidance. Operating at the intersection of strategy and delivery, you will ensure the alignment of technical solutions with enterprise goals, promote reuse, and foster technical excellence across teams. The incumbent of this position will act as a key contributor to the enterprise architecture community, working in close collaboration with domain architects, delivery teams, and the Senior Manager, Enterprise and Solution Architecture.

What you\'ll do:

  • Support the enterprise architectural strategy by assessing proposed solutions for alignment with defined patterns, policies, and long-term objectives.
  • Conduct domain and cross-domain assessments to identify risks, integration issues, or compliance gaps.
  • Collaborate with architecture governance bodies to provide recommendations and influence architecture decisions within approved boundaries. Document recommendations and lessons learned to enable reuse, traceability, and compliance.
  • Ensure technical feasibility and alignment of initiatives with CMHC’s enterprise architecture vision without setting strategy directly.
  • Support corporate and business-unit strategic planning by contributing architectural insights at the domain or initiative level.
  • Monitor the progress of strategic initiatives, providing updates and recommendations to ensure just in time alignment with architectural goals and objectives.
  • Mentor solution architects and junior staff in architectural practices, technical patterns, as well as compliance expectations while encouraging knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in the evaluation and adoption of new standards through pilot initiatives as well as implementation reviews and monitor adherence to architectural standards during solution development.
What you should have

An undergraduate degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience can be considered.

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in technology and architecture, with at least five (5) years in a senior architectural role.
  • Extensive experience in multiple technology domains, including but not limited to security, infrastructure, software engineering, and agile methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships across various business units, ensuring alignment of technology initiatives with organizational goals.
  • A strong understanding of business capabilities and the ability to assess the maturity level of technology within the organization.
  • The ability to provide architectural decision-making support, including risk assessment and resource allocation for projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate concepts into language that is accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks, such as TOGAF, RCDA, and ITIL, with a focus on continuous improvement of architectural practices.
It would be great if you also had
  • Experience in mortgage insurance or housing government programs.
  • Experience in financial services or the public sector.
