Work Arrangements: Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework). Employees in this position who telework will be required to travel to the identified work site at least three times per week or a minimum of 60% of their regular work schedule at their own expense. Alternative work arrangements may be considered to accommodate candidates as required.

The Role

We are looking for an Administrative Assistant to support the Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP). The successful candidate will share our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity and provide general administrative support.

Key responsibilities
  • Coordinating meetings (including events and seminars)
  • Arranging travel and preparing related documents
  • Preparing correspondence, reports and presentations
  • Establishing and maintaining filing and signing systems
  • Responding to general inquiries
  • Other duties common to research environments (shipping / receiving, procurement, badge coordination, time coordination, Non-Salaried Worker coordination, publications administration)

The Administrative Assistant is an integral part of NRC operations.

Screening criteria

Applicants must demonstrate how they meet the following criteria to be considered further. Respond to all pre-screening questions in detail; failure to do so may result in disqualification.

Education

Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards. Post-secondary education in administration may be considered an asset. For information on certificates and diplomas issued abroad, please see Degree equivalency.

Experience
  • Experience providing administrative support services such as arranging meetings, travel arrangements, processing travel claims, creating and maintaining files, or financial data entry.
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in purchasing / procurement is an asset.
  • Experience using the SAP system is an asset.
Condition of Employment

Reliability Status is required. Verification of background information over five years is needed for a Reliability Status.

Language Requirements: English

Assessment Criteria

Technical and behavioural competencies will be evaluated, including:

  • Knowledge of office administration procedures (meeting planning, travel, filing, correspondence) considered a strong asset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide information clearly
  • Attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to draft memos and correspondence (asset)
Competency profiles

Management Services competency profile will be used for evaluation.

Compensation

From $49,665 to $65,854 per annum. NRC offers competitive benefits including a robust pension plan, health and dental coverage, disability and life insurance, and other supports.
