Position summary: At Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) and Kamloops Mental Health and Substance Use (KMHSU), you will serve as an integral part of the addictions treatment team. Here, you will apply your expertise and compassion to help navigate addiction, transforming lives through individualized care and support. As an addictions psychiatrist, you will work with individuals and families facing addiction across inpatient, outpatient, community-based and concurrent disorder programs. Ensuring culturally-safe, equitable access to mental health and addictions support is a top priority.
Within our interdisciplinary team, your expertise will be crucial. You will engage in thorough psychiatric assessments, spearhead the crafting and application of sophisticated treatment strategies, and execute vital psychosocial interventions. Enlightening patients and their support circles, you will demystify addiction’s intricacies to foster better comprehension and management of these challenges.
The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower at RIH provides advanced child and adolescent mental health services, a specialized mental health and substance use inpatient unit, and a 30-bed general psychiatric unit comprising 20 general beds, 10 high observation beds and 3 seclusion beds.
Your method will emphasize empathy, advocating for harm reduction, and endorsing a recovery-focused outlook, all of which underscore your commitment to patient welfare. You will champion the integration of mental health and addiction services with broader health initiatives, aiming for a unified and effective treatment trajectory for each patient.
Your dedication to educational excellence will shine as you mentor peers, medical undergraduates, postgraduate Family Practice residents, and participants in the UBC Okanagan Psychiatry program. We will support and encourage you to embrace leadership roles and pursue professional development.
