Position: 3D Generalist
Role Status: New (Future Role)
Department: Video and Animation
Reporting to: Director of Video and Animation
Location: Remote within Canada
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary Range: $75,000–$85,000 CAD per year, plus eligibility for company bonus and benefits
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9AM–5PM (in your time zone, flexible hours)

Summary

The 3D Generalist is a full-time role within Think Shift’s Video and Animation Team, focused on creating high-impact, visually compelling 3D work across campaigns, pitches, and client deliverables. This role blends technical excellence with creative problem-solving, supporting projects from early concept through final execution. The ideal candidate brings strong 3D craft, motion sensibility, and a collaborative mindset, contributing to cinematic visuals, animation, and world-building that elevate Think Shift’s creative output across digital, experiential, and broadcast channels.

Accountabilities

40% – 3D Asset Creation & Rendering

  • Model, texture, light, and render high-quality hard-surface and organic 3D assets
  • Develop cinematic lighting and material systems that feel tactile, intentional, and polished
  • Deliver finished stills and frames suitable for campaign-level use

35% – Animation & Motion Design

  • Animate 3D scenes with strong timing, pacing, weight, and visual storytelling
  • Bring static concepts to life through motion, rhythm, and movement
  • Experiment with particles, atmospherics, and simulations when appropriate to the idea

25% – Collaboration & Creative Development

  • Collaborate closely with creative directors, designers, motion artists, and strategists
  • Contribute to pitches, early concepts, and visual development
  • Composite and refine work using After Effects and Photoshop to final delivery standards
We’re Looking For
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent professional experience in 3D, animation, motion design, or a related field
  • Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in a 3D generalist or similar role
  • Fluency in Cinema 4D (modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, animation)
  • Experience with Redshift or Octane
  • Strong motion fundamentals and a designer’s eye for composition and visual hierarchy
  • Ability to composite and polish work in After Effects (Photoshop as support)
  • A portfolio or demo reel demonstrating technical skill, creative range, and motion sensibility
