A United Nations agency in Brasília is seeking a Translation and Administrative Assistant. In this role, you will translate and proofread documents between Portuguese and English and provide administrative support to the Programme unit. Candidates must have a university degree in languages, fluency in both languages, and experience in translation and administrative roles.

Background
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the United Nations agency that leads the global fight against hunger. Its presence in Brazil is through the Centre of Excellence against Hunger, a partnership signed between the WFP and the Brazilian government in 2011.
Our mission is to support countries in the creation and implementation of sustainable solutions against hunger, including school meals programmes, nutrition and related food-security activities.
The purpose of this position is to assist as a Translation and Administrative Assistant – English in Brasília, Brazil. You will be involved in the translation and proofreading of technical documents and other communications between Portuguese and English, as well as administrative support to the Programme unit.
The position holder may also be asked to perform other duties within the scope of the WFP Centre of Excellence Programme Unit.
Accountabilities: The Translation and Administrative Assistant – English reports to the Head of Programme and undertakes the following duties:
Education: University degree in Languages/Translation. An advanced degree in a related area is an advantage.
Experience: At least three years of progressively responsible support work experience in translation and proofreading, and related administrative support in international organizations, government or NGO. Work experience within the UN system is an asset.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written Portuguese and English. Working knowledge of French is desirable.
Knowledge: Experience with computers, word processing, spreadsheets, CAT tools, terminological research, and managing glossaries.
Competencies and skills: Ability to work with deadlines, good communication and time-management skills.

Remuneration: Gross monthly salary of BRL 5,415.55. Local social security plan (INSS) is paid, along with a death and disability plan. The contract includes a coparticipative international health insurance plan for the employee and dependents.
