MECHANICAL ENGINEER

How You’ll Make an Impact

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving mechanical systems and equipment within Lubrizol’s manufacturing plants in Brazil (Belford Roxo – RJ and Paulínia – SP). This includes supporting plant operations, troubleshooting mechanical issues, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and leading projects to upgrade or install new equipment.

Accountabilities
  • Design, specify, and oversee the installation of mechanical equipment (reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, piping, valves, etc.);
  • Supervise and plan preventive and corrective maintenance of industrial equipment;
  • Perform failure analysis and investigate root causes of mechanical issues in chemical plants;
  • Develop technical procedures for operation and maintenance, ensuring mechanical integrity;
  • Support expansion, improvement, and automation projects for production processes;
  • Ensure all equipment complies with technical, environmental, and safety standards (NRs, ASME, API, etc.);
  • Participate in internal and external audits related to mechanical integrity and process safety;
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve reliability and efficiency;
  • Manage projects, new installations, and process improvements;
  • Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations and company policies;
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and drawings;
  • Assist in preparing budgets, schedules, and cost estimates for mechanical projects;
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis for equipment failures;
  • Based in Belford Roxo, with availability to travel 20% of the time to the Paulínia plant.
Education / Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Experience in chemical, petrochemical, or related industries;
  • Knowledge of maintenance management, reliability, and failure analysis (RCFA, FMEA, etc.);
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and process diagrams (P&ID);
  • Familiarity with technical standards (ASME, API, NR-13, etc.);
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills;
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects;
  • Advanced English is a plus.
