Job Description
- Assist the anesthesia care provider with acquiring, preparing and use of equipment, supplies, and medications during the administration of anesthesia.
- Assist with special procedures and provide support in anesthesia for routine, emergency and complex surgical cases.
- Functions under supervision of the licensed anesthesia care provider designated by Center.
- Provides anesthesia technician services to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia care provider designated by Center, in accordance with DOH regulations.
- Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders/stocks and maintains routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Maintains anesthesia medications, supplies and equipment according to needs and schedules.
- Cleans, organizes and maintains anesthesia workroom, supplies and equipment.
- Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra and post anesthesia and with consideration and knowledge of age-specific issues related to meeting the needs of the various patient groups.
- Performs basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment and reports defective equipment and equipment malfunctions appropriately/immediately.
- Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Documents and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records.
- Assists with transport of patients as necessary.
- Ability to travel between facilities or other treatment locations as necessary.
- Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of Center, and other local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Promotes effective working relationships with anesthesia department staff and works collaboratively with RN circulators, Surgical Technicians, Service Technicians and Equipment Technicians.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds/meetings and in-services as needed. Helps anesthesiologist in conducting pre-anesthesia evaluations.
- Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
- Wear identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
- Actively participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
- Communicate the mission, vision and quality policy of the CENTER, as well as the focus statement of the department.
- Employees shall comply with all OSHMS policies, standards, and procedures affecting their work and avoid misusing anything provided in the interests of health, safety, or protection of the environment.
- Help in developing and establishing safety programs.
- Follow established OSH procedures and not take any shortcut which affects OSH in CENTER.
- Assist in incident investigations.
- Report hazards and incidents.
- Provide OSH feedback to In charge/HOD.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 4 years of experience is required
- Leadership and teamwork abilities
- Empathy to talk to patients
- Ability to work with a team.
