Job summary
A leading global organization is seeking a VAT Compliance Analyst to manage indirect tax compliance reporting and audit processes for group entities in the Middle East and Africa. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, owning the audit process, and evaluating tax implications of business transactions. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree and have relevant tax or accounting qualifications with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office. This position calls for strong independent work and communication skills.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is required.
- Tax or Accounting professional qualification with experience in VAT returns.
- Business fluency in English is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Manage indirect tax compliance reporting for assigned entities.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve tax compliance processes.
- Individually own processes related to indirect tax audits.
- Evaluate tax implications of business transactions.
- Lead interactions with internal and statutory auditors.

Amazon is a global organisation at the forefront of the digital economy and offers a great opportunity for a dynamic and experienced indirect tax professional within Amazon's international indirect tax compliance function. The VAT Compliance Analyst will work on indirect tax compliance and audit for Amazon group entities primarily in the Middle East and Africa region. The analyst is expected to work independently with minimal support with internal and external business partners identify and implement process improvement opportunities and drive positive change across the organisation.
- Managing day to day indirect tax compliance reporting for allocated Amazon group entities
- Working closely with cross function teams and improving tax compliance processes
- Individually owning the process and work related to indirect tax audit
- Evaluating the tax effect and implications of business transactions from a tax compliance and audit perspective
- Reviewing tax accounting provisioning and leading interactions with internal and statutory auditors
- Working on various projects impacting the future strategy of the indirect tax function to minimise/mitigate adverse litigation
- Publishing trackers and dashboards on key tax risks and exceptions
- Working with internal stakeholders to gather required information for effective management of audits
- Bachelors degree
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Experience researching indirect tax issues including taxability of products and services
- Business fluent in English
- Tax or Accounting professional qualification with proven experience of preparing VAT returns and Balance sheet reconciliation
