Job summary

A leading airline in the UAE is seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to supervise line-level maintenance tasks on Airbus A320 aircraft. Responsibilities include preparing and performing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting defects, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate must hold an EASA Part 66 or GCAA CAR 66 B1 license and have at least two years of experience certifying maintenance on the Airbus A320 family. Strong English communication and good computer skills are required for this role.

Qualifications

Job description
Job Purpose

Carries out and supervises Line-level maintenance tasks on Air Arabia and 3rd party aircrafts within the CAR 66 ‘B1’ License Category, ensuring the required work is performed, certified and recorded accurately and timely in accordance with Air Arabia and regulatory requirements.

Key Result Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
  1. Reviews assigned maintenance work with the Maintenance Manager Line & Outstations/MCC Manager to gain full understanding of tasks, their relative priorities, documentation requirements and cautions, prior to starting work.
  2. Prepares and performs scheduled aircraft maintenance, ensuring that the required documentation, parts, tools and GSE are obtained and used for each task.
  3. Performs defect troubleshooting and rectification in accordance with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and instructions provided by the MCC and Engineering departments.
  4. Protects airworthiness, ensuring aircrafts are dispatched in a fully compliant condition and configuration, inspected and tested in accordance with approved maintenance procedures.
  5. Signs off maintenance tasks performed or supervised within the scope of own authorisation, verifying that the aircraft technical log and associated documents have been completed to the required standard following completion of all maintenance.
  6. Manages communications with LSM, other Technicians, Flight Crew and MCC related to the assigned tasks, providing accurate, timely reports on the readiness and airworthiness of the aircraft.
  7. By proper work planning, decision making and communications, ensures that maintenance tasks are carried out whenever possible within the planned ground time to avoid operational delay.
Safety
  1. Manages the safety of assigned maintenance activities, ensuring all published mandatory precautions are taken prior to commencing work and during task execution.
  2. Takes positive steps to protect self and other persons in the area of the maintenance activity from any possible injury, including the use of proper GSE and protective equipment.
  3. Manages human factors aspects of maintenance, ensuring that the continuity of critical maintenance tasks is protected, by avoidance of task interruption and the proper use of handover procedures.
Reputation and Teamwork
  1. Internal Customer Service: provides positive and proactive support to other operational teams in ABY, providing helpful professional advice, suggestions and solutions.
  2. Leadership: provides sound supervision and guidance of Technicians assigned to support own tasks. Ensures they are adequately briefed to perform the non-certifying maintenance tasks.
  3. Representing Air Arabia: presents a positive and competent image of technical professionalism to ABY Flight Crews, other companies’ personnel and ABY customers.
Cost Awareness

Maintains positive awareness to the cost of aircraft maintenance including use of time and materials. Minimises unnecessary waste of consumable material and part repair cost by avoiding unnecessary damage and repeat work during maintenance.

Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
  • Holds /has held an EASA Part 66 or GCAA CAR 66 B1 Aircraft Maintenance License and company maintenance approvals on the Airbus A320.
  • Note: must commit to ensure any limitations removed from license within 9 months of induction.
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted GCAA CAR 66 B1 Category License.
  • Able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of airframe and engine systems and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English to a good standard for technical communications.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to obtain UAE Driver’s License.
Work Experience

External applicants

  • At least 2 years’ experience certifying maintenance on the Airbus A320 family of aircraft.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a Line or Base Maintenance environment.
