Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Fujairah, UAE
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team for an oil terminal storage expansion project of greenfield/brownfield oil storage tank farm from concept/FEED through engineering, procurement, construction, pre‑commissioning, and handover to operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, procurement support, installation, and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems, while also leading mechanical project planning to ensure all project activities adhere to international standards, industry best practices, and client specifications.
This role requires a strong background in the oil and gas sector, with specific expertise in large tank farm/oil terminal storage terminal/refinery tankage projects.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Engineering and Design
- Perform detailed mechanical design, analysis, and selection of static and rotating equipment, including storage tanks (API 650, API 620), pressure vessels (ASME Section VIII), heat exchangers (TEMA), pumps, compressors, and piping systems (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8).
- Develop and review mechanical specifications, data sheets, technical requisitions, and bid evaluations for mechanical equipment and packages.
- Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with relevant international codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., API, ASME, NFPA, local UAE regulations).
- Conduct engineering calculations, stress analysis, and simulations for mechanical components and systems.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning phases.
- Review vendor drawings, documents, and calculations for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Participate in HAZOP, SIL, and other safety review meetings to ensure mechanical integrity and operational safety.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues during project execution and provide effective solutions.
Project Planning and Execution (Mechanical Scope)
- Planning Phase: Lead the development of the mechanical scope of work, project schedules, and resource allocation for mechanical engineering activities. Contribute to the overall project execution plan, identifying key mechanical deliverables, milestones, and critical paths. Conduct risk assessments related to mechanical design, fabrication, and installation, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Procurement Phase: Collaborate with procurement to define technical requirements for mechanical equipment and materials. Review and approve vendor proposals, ensuring technical compliance and cost‑effectiveness. Oversee the manufacturing process through Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and ensure timely delivery of mechanical components.
- Construction Phase: Supervise the installation, erection, and testing of mechanical equipment and piping systems on‑site. Ensure adherence to design specifications, construction drawings, and quality control procedures. Manage mechanical interfaces with other disciplines and resolve any technical discrepancies. Oversee welding, NDE, and hydrotesting activities for mechanical components.
- Pre‑Commissioning & Commissioning Phase: Develop and execute pre‑commissioning and commissioning procedures for mechanical systems. Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure smooth handover of mechanical assets. Conduct performance testing and ensure all mechanical systems meet operational requirements.
- Monitoring & Control: Monitor the progress of mechanical activities against the project schedule and budget. Implement change management procedures for mechanical scope variations. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for mechanical engineering and construction, and report on project status to management.
Qualifications
