Job description

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy of accounting records, compliance with internal policies and statutory regulations, and supporting management with timely financial reports and analysis. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and supporting business decision-making for Sharaf Retail.

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with IFRS and company policies.
  • Oversee general ledger postings, reconciliations, and monthly closing activities.
  • Ensure timely preparation of financial statements, MIS reports, and management dashboards.
  • Assist in consolidation of group financials and reporting.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Review and approve supplier invoices, staff claims, and vendor reconciliations.
  • Monitor receivables, follow up on collections, and ensure timely settlement.
  • Ensure proper aging analysis of payables and receivables.

Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory regulations in UAE and other operating countries.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits and provide necessary schedules/support.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Budgeting & Analysis

  • Support in preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making for retail operations.
  • Monitor cost controls and suggest process improvements for efficiency.

Team & Process Support

  • Guide junior accountants and ensure accuracy of their work.
  • Collaborate with Operations, HR, and procurement teams to ensure proper financial alignment.
  • Drive automation and improvements in accounting and reporting processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (mandatory).
  • Professional certification preferred (CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in accounting, with at least 2–3 years in a retail environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, VAT, and UAE corporate tax regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP/QuickBooks or similar).
  • Advanced MS Excel and financial analysis skills.
