Job Brief

The Technical Procurement & Project Engineer acts as the bridge between engineering requirements and vendor delivery. This role focuses on sourcing the right manufacturing technology, managing the purchase and delivery of machinery, and overseeing the installation of automation systems. You will be the primary point of contact for external suppliers and internal departments to ensure new factory projects are delivered on time and to spec.

Job Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical lead in identifying and auditing machine vendors and automation suppliers.
  • Manage the end-to-end communication with suppliers, from initial technical inquiry to final delivery.
  • Conduct factory visits and audits to verify supplier quality and manufacturing capability.
Technical Specifications & Review
  • Review and approve technical drawings (CAD) and machine specs to ensure they meet factory needs.
  • Translate operational requirements from the shop floor into technical tender documents for procurement.
  • Ensure all imported machinery meets local and global safety and performance standards.
Project Coordination & Implementation
  • Track the "Greenfield" project timeline, ensuring machines arrive and are installed according to the master plan.
  • Coordinate between the shipping/logistics team and the factory floor for machine arrival and positioning.
  • Oversee the commissioning phase, ensuring vendors set up the automation systems as promised.
Process & Automation Improvement
  • Identify manual processes on the production line that can be improved through new technology.
  • Research new manufacturing methods and present the "business case" (cost vs. benefit) to management.
  • Maintain all technical documentation, manuals, and warranty records for new equipment.
Reporting & Communication
  • Provide weekly status updates on vendor progress and project budgets to the Global Operations Manager.
  • Liaise with the Finance and Procurement teams to ensure payment milestones are met based on technical progress.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 5–10 years in a manufacturing environment, specifically handling machine procurement or project execution.
  • Previous experience in setting up new production lines or factory extensions.
  • Proficiency in reading/reviewing CAD drawings and understanding PLC-based automation systems.
  • Strong background in vendor negotiation, technical auditing, and "chasing" suppliers for deadlines.
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-engineers (Procurement/Finance).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with a mix of office-based coordination and factory-floor implementation.
