Summary
This position is affiliated with Cincinnati’s Children’s hospital in the USA. The Consultant in Pediatric Cardiology with experience in congenital and heart failure provides expert care for children with complex cardiac conditions, from diagnosis through advanced treatment and follow-up. The role involves managing patients with congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathies, and heart failure, as well as contributing to surgical planning and post-operative care. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, combining local expertise with international best practices to advance pediatric cardiac care in the region.
Education/Qualification
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT), Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland
- Sub-Specialties: Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR) Portugal, Spain, or Italy
- Sub-Specialties: Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.
License
- Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide specialized care for children with congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathies, and heart failure.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations, including echocardiography and other cardiac imaging.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care for pediatric cardiac patients.
- Collaborate with pediatric cardiac surgeons, intensivists, and other subspecialists in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Develop individualized treatment and management plans for complex cardiac cases.
- Participate in advanced heart failure care, including mechanical circulatory support and transplant assessments.
- Contribute to hospital-based clinical programs and outreach services.
- Engage in teaching and mentorship of residents, fellows, and allied health staff.
- Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to advance pediatric cardiology care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with hospital standards.
