We are seeking a highly alert and detail-oriented Emergency Dispatcher to join our emergency response team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for receiving and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching appropriate emergency services (police, fire, medical), and providing essential support and guidance to callers in distress.
Answer emergency (911) and non-emergency calls promptly and professionally.
Determine the nature, location, and priority of emergencies and dispatch appropriate emergency services.
Provide lifesaving instructions, including CPR, over the phone while awaiting emergency personnel.
Operate radio, telephone, and computer equipment to relay information accurately.
Maintain detailed logs of calls, dispatches, and other critical data.
Monitor emergency response units and provide ongoing support with updated information.
Coordinate with law enforcement, fire departments, and medical teams efficiently.
Remain calm and collected during high-pressure situations and rapidly changing circumstances.
Adhere to all standard operating procedures, laws, and regulations regarding emergency communication and data privacy.
High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate or bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, Communications, or related field (preferred).
Prior experience in emergency dispatching or public safety communications is an asset.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under pressure.
Proficiency in computer systems, including CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) software.
Availability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification
CPR and First Aid Certification
NCIC/TCIC Certification (if applicable)
Fast-paced, high-stress call center environment
Sitting for long periods, wearing a headset
24/7 operation with rotating shifts
