Overview

Genesee Country Village & Museum, located in Mumford, NY 25 miles outside of Rochester, is the largest living history museum in New York State. Our 68-building Historic Village, John L. Position Overview

The Development Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Genesee Country Village & Museum’s fundraising activities. This position is responsible for accurate and timely gift processing, donor database management, membership support, and event assistance. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a donor-centered approach to help strengthen the Museum’s development efforts.

Responsibilities
Donor Database Management (50%)
  • Serve as primary user of the donor database, ensuring accurate data entry, gift processing, and record maintenance.
  • Generate timely and accurate donation acknowledgements, thank you letters, and tax receipts for individual and institutional donors.
  • Produce donor and member reports, mailing lists, and giving summaries as needed.
  • Reconcile monthly giving reports with the Finance Department to ensure accuracy.
Membership Program Support (30%)
  • Assist with member recruitment, recognition, and engagement activities and events.
  • Provide responsive customer service by addressing member inquiries and needs.
  • Collaborate with Admissions and Marketing teams on member communications and outreach.
Event Assistance (20%)
  • Process event registrations and sponsorships; maintain guest lists.
  • Prepare event materials and provide on-site support for development events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of experience in data entry, customer service, and/or administrative support.
  • Proficiency with donor databases (Bloomerang preferred).
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Office setting.
  • Perform physical work such as kneeling, reaching, bending, crouching, pulling, and pushing, lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to walk up to 1 mile when working events.
