A leading hotel chain is seeking a Cook to prepare special meals and maintain food quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a Technical or Vocational School Degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience. This role involves assisting management and ensuring guest satisfaction through high-quality food preparation.
POSITION SUMMARY
Prepare special meals or substitute items. Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. Thaw food from freezer storage in the refrigerator. Ensure proper portioning and food garnishing. Maintain food logs. Monitor the quality and quantity of prepared food. Communicate assistance needed during busy periods. Inform the Chef of excess food items for use in daily specials. Notify Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out-of-stock items. Ensure the quality of food items. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and checklists. Prepare cold foods.
Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees; serve as a role model. Follow all company, safety, and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the manager; complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniforms and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Anticipate and address guests' service needs. Communicate clearly and professionally. Develop and maintain positive working relationships, support team goals, and respond appropriately to colleagues' concerns. Ensure adherence to quality standards. Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Perform other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree.
Related Work Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience.
Supervisory Experience: None required.
License or Certification: None required.
