The opportunity

Join IFRS Professional Practice within Assurance and you will provide technical consultation to our offices within MENA to address the accounting and financial reporting challenges our engagement teams face while dealing with audit and accounting advisory engagements.

Your key responsibilities

1. Work closely with all EY offices in the MENA region including Professional practice colleagues and engagement teams.
2. Assist Senior Manager and partners in researching and resolving IFRS technical consultations and queries.
3. Develop thought leadership for an external audience and internal guidance for our engagement teams on accounting and financial reporting matters.
4. Provide IFRS technical support on a consultative basis to EY offices in MENA for reaching conclusions on complex IFRS matters.
5. Prepare internal guidance arising from consultations and timely updates of our research, learning materials, and tools for accounting consideration.
6. Participate in thought leadership for new and emerging accounting and financial reporting issues, including standard setter projects and industry-specific content.
7. Liaise with EY Global and EMEIA IFRS Professional Practices as necessary and deliver training as required.
8. Work on developing our comment letters on proposed standards that provide input to the IASB.
9. Provide support on corporate treasury and financial accounting advisory engagements.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• At least 8 years of external audit experience (including at least one year as Senior Manager) at a big 4 public accounting firm.
• A degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• CA/CPA/ACCA certification.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS.
• A strong desire to broaden your technical skills.
• Strong verbal communication, presentation and writing skills.
• Ability and comfort in researching accounting and auditing inquiries and analyzing emerging issues relating to accounting standards and industry practices.
• Excellent managerial and organizational skills.
• A dedication to teamwork and leadership.
• Integrity within a professional environment.
