Category Manager (MEP)
The Category Manager (MEP) is responsible for strategically managing the procurement and sourcing activities within the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) category. This role involves developing and executing category strategies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost efficiency and quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Category Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for MEP materials, equipment, and services based on market analysis, business needs, and company objectives.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier consolidation within the MEP category.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors in the MEP category.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with agreements and terms.
- Sourcing and Procurement:
- Lead the sourcing and procurement efforts for MEP materials, equipment, and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, select appropriate suppliers, and negotiate pricing and terms.
- Cost Management and Budgeting:
- Analyze costs, market trends, and pricing structures to identify opportunities for cost reductions while maintaining quality standards.
- Develop and manage budgets for the MEP category and monitor spending against budgeted targets.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure that procured materials and equipment meet required quality standards and comply with industry regulations and company policies.
- Work with quality control teams to establish and maintain quality assurance processes.
- Market Analysis and Supplier Evaluation:
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and technological advancements within the MEP category.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, financial stability, and overall suitability to meet organizational requirements.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and finance, to align category strategies with project objectives and timelines.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure effective implementation of category strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or Business Administration.
- Proven experience in category management or procurement within the MEP industry.
- Strong understanding of MEP materials, equipment, and industry suppliers.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in procurement software, market analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in procurement and category management.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
