Job Description

The MSGC is seeking outstanding candidates to join our leadership team to support our graduate training program in Genetic Counseling at the Department of Genetics and Genomics in the College of Medicine and Health Science (CMHS) at the UAE University. The Department is inviting applications for positions at the level of Instructor or Assistant Professor, beginning the Fall 2025. These full‑time positions will be involved in the leadership of the Master program in Genetic Counseling. Candidates will contribute to the educational mission of the department by teaching and mentoring students as well as serving in program leadership and administration for the Genetic Counseling Program. Candidates may focus primarily on the educational mission of the department or may have a substantial interest in teaching, fieldwork/clinical practice coordination and supervision, admissions and/or research. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Program Director in the program’s instructional, administrative and other functions.

  • Classroom teaching and course coordination
  • Assess, review and advance research program and curriculum
  • Oversee MSGC graduate research projects. Candidates may have responsibility in oversight of thesis work of the GC students.
  • Assist with program admissions, marketing and recruitment
  • Assist with program strategic planning, development and outcomes assessment
  • Active participation in conferences, seminars or meetings as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master in the discipline of genetic counseling
  • At least 5 years of experience as a genetic counselor
  • Experience in fieldwork supervision of genetic counseling graduate students
  • The skills to take on major responsibilities for teaching courses and developing new curriculum, mentoring students
  • Overseeing student research and clinical training
  • Experience in the methods and technologies used in genetic research and aware of the ethical issues involved in research and publications
  • A commitment to the CMHS values of respectful dialogue, cultural humility, and promotion of health equity
  • Experience in genomics, public health genetics, and bioinformatics would be preferred
  • Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous involvement with a genetic counseling training program (i.e., leadership, teaching, clinical rotation oversight, etc.)
  • Previous classroom teaching experience with demonstrated leadership and/or extra‑classroom achievements in education (i.e. course development; directorship of degree programs; publication of textbook chapters, peer‑reviewed publications related to public health education; major role in mentoring and advising)
  • Previous research experience (i.e., peer‑reviewed publications, posters/presentations at national meetings, mentorship of student research)
  • Preferable candidates hold international Certification in genetic counseling
