Job description
Underwriting Consultant (PL & Commercial) – Pietermaritzburg.

Short Term Insurance Underwriter with Personal Lines and Commercial Underwriting experience (3-5 years) and the required FSCA qualifications (NQF4, RE5 and DOFA registration), living in Pietermartizburg or surrounding area, required to provide assistance to an Insurance Advisor based in Pietermaritzburg.

Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12/Matric
  • Fully computer literate (Microsoft Office 365: Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • NQF Level 4 Certificate in Short term insurance
  • RE5 successfully completed
  • DOFA confirmation from FSCA
  • 3- 5 years relevant work experience in Short term insurance – Commercial and personal lines
  • Must reside in Pietermaritzburg or within daily travelling distance

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with Clients and Advisers
  • Preparing quotations
  • Liaising and providing feedback to clients of underwriting progress.
  • Handling client queries
  • Underwriting Management: the daily underwritings process preparing Renewals, Sourcing acceptance terms
  • Recording details and information on relevant systems
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Bridging the gap between the office and insurance companies
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with insurers
  • Reporting
  • Manage client retention and existing policies
  • iComply
  • Understanding policy wording and various products
  • Claims processing where necessary
