Job Description
Objectives of the function
  • To design, develop, validate, and improve production tooling, jigs, and fixtures through robust engineering methods, ensuring manufacturing performance, ergonomics, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • To reverse-engineer existing tools where documentation is missing or incomplete, and generate complete 3D/2D datasets for manufacturing.
Mission & Task
  • Design and develop tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges, lifting devices, and assembly aids.
  • Conduct criticality assessment for jigs & fixtures.
  • Perform reverse engineering of existing tooling: measurements, 3D scanning interpretation, redesign, and documentation.
  • Produce high-quality 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5/V6 and/or SolidWorks.
  • Conduct tolerance analyses, GD&T application, and functional studies.
  • Support tooling fabrication, commissioning, and shop-floor validation.
  • Perform tooling functional trials and capability checks.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage tooling projects (planning, cost, supplier interface).
  • Ensure compliance with safety and ergonomic requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects (Lean, Kaizen, SMED).
  • Prepare technical documentation, BOMs, routing sheets, and validation reports.
Qualifications

2/3 years Higher Education Diploma

  • Mechanical Engineering Technician (Advantageous)

4/5 years Higher Education Diploma

  • BEng / BTech in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (Preferred)
