Job description

System Analyst (BI)

Position Purpose

• To bring forth critical Business Intelligence from multiples of process data information that cuts across all Transnet Engineering Business units.
• Implement solutions that require extraction, transformation and loading of key data from various sources into target platforms.
• To analyse and understand critical reporting business requirements and interpret data into information that the business can use in critical decision‑making processes.

Position Outputs

• Work with internal and external stakeholders to translate business problems into business intelligence data designs.
• Integration, transformation, modeling and data validation using a standardised approach and common understanding of operational imperatives, processes, and policies to achieve business goals.
• Perform SAP BW system configuration and development.
• Perform deployment of development objects throughout 3‑tier landscape (Dev, QA, Production).
• Evaluating and improving existing BI systems.
• Assist in developing and maintaining data models used to provide insights to management from multiple data sources.
• Developing and maintaining dashboards and reports used by management and operations teams.
• Compose functional & technical design documents where applicable.
• Intermediate SQL coding skills.
• Experience working with commercial BI tools (desirable Power BI and SAP Webi).
• Develop User Manuals and provide training to ensure technical compatibility and End User satisfaction.
• Mentor and assist junior developers.
• Excellent research, analysis, and problem‑solving skills.
• Understand data design and development across systems for BI reporting, data integration, analytics and data warehousing initiatives.
• Understand activities related to BI data governance and BI data management.
• Adhere to practices for the business intelligence team, including SDLC, data integration, change control.
• Collaborate with other developers and remain abreast with new technologies within BI.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform.

Qualifications and Experience

• National Diploma qualification in Information Systems or Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in SAP BW.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power BI.
• SAP Certification will be an added advantage.

• Minimum 6 years' experience in SAP BW.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power BI.
• SAP Certification will be an added advantage.
