Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Site Supervisor for a 2-month contract in Durban. The ideal candidate will have experience in logistics, strong knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, and the ability to manage staff effectively. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with operational procedures and overseeing freight processes. A matric qualification and a degree/diploma in supply chain/logistics are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant experience within the logistics environment.
  • Working knowledge of in-house procedures and practices.
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1993.

  • Monitor the processes of document dispatching and freight handling.
  • Manage leave and attendance of staff efficiently.

About the job Site Supervisor - Durban (Contract Position)

2 Month Contract

  • Matric
  • Degree/diploma in supply chain/logistics field beneficial
  • 3 years relevant experience within the logistics environment
  • Working knowledge of In-house procedures and practices
  • Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to the In-house operation
  • Knowledge of the documentation used in the operations
  • Customer requirements including cut off times and KPIs
  • Code of Conduct and HR policies
  • Internal and external services pertaining to the operation
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act 1993 and the requirements thereof ISO 9001

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures are known, understood, documented, in place, managed, maintained and enforced
  • Understand and know how to make use of the various systems in the business
  • Keep all filing and administration up to date
  • Monitor the processes of scanning, manifesting and authorising of various In-house documents and dispatching of freight
  • Ensure the effective utilisation and optimisation of vehicles
  • Ensure vehicles are planned and ordered according to specific requirements and communicated to relevant parties
  • Ensure all freight is correctly processed
  • Rectify any discrepancies from the receiving branch within the allocated time frame
  • Manage leave, time and attendance of all staff
  • Drive skills development of staff through training and other initiatives as regularly as required and keep signed records on file
  • Identify problem areas and initiate IR and HR processes as required
  • Ensure that all HR and payroll records are in place and maintained (job profiles, competencies, appraisals, wages etc)
