Job description

We hereby seek to establish a freelance panel of highly skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreters to provide services for our wide ranging private and government clients nationally. You must be fluent in South African Sign Language (SASL) and dedicated to enabling communication access for the Deaf community.

Requirements
  • Sufficient experience in providing interpreting services to the Public Sector and other private institution.
  • Accreditation or relevant qualification as a South African Sign Language Interpreter.
  • Ability to work in diverse and high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to facilitate communication between deaf and hearing individuals by accurately interpreting spoken language into sign language and vice versa.
  • Adherence to confidentiality guidelines and professional integrity.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional interpreting experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide sign language interpretation for events (conferences, workshops, meetings, etc.), interpret participant comments (voice to sign and sign to voice), and assist with translating communication products.
  • Facilitate seamless communication between Deaf and hearing individuals in various settings playing a crucial role in ensuring equal access to information and participation.
  • Adhere to professional codes of conduct and ethics for interpreters.
