As a Senior VAT specialist to the Afrocentric Group, you will be required to ensure that the Group is compliant for Value-Added Tax purposes.
You will be required to provide technical advice and assist the Group's AdvancedTax Specialist in implementing a risk management framework.
You will also be required to assist with dispute resolution and Ad-hoc queries from SARS as well as assist with our monthly, interim and year end reporting.
This role focuses on accurate tax reporting, timely submissions and strategic tax planning to optimize tax positions and mitigate risks.
Minimum 3 - 5 years' work related experience in VAT.
Experience with tax software and financial systems is advantageous
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field.
Masters Degree in Taxation is advantageous

Group's Advanced Tax Specialist
Ensure that all the tax reporting deadlines are efficiently and effectively met on a monthly basis.
This includes the review of the VAT reconciliations and the submission of the VAT returns.
Review the periodic VAT apportionment calculations for specific entities in the Group and ensure that these calculations are accurate and implement improvement strategies where issues are noted.
Prepare or review the IT14SD calculations for the Group periodically and implement controls where tax risks are identified.Ensure that the Group is compliant for Value-Added Tax purposes.
Assist in drafting VAT related SARS correspondence, including verification letter responses, VAT ruling requests and VAT disputes.
Improve VAT bookkeeping and assist with drafting VAT policies.
Assist with ad-hoc VAT projects, where required.
Pro-actively identify and investigate any VAT risks and assist in implementing a risk management framework or policy.
Stay abreast of developments in VAT, assist with implementation of new VAT rules, liaison with internal and external auditors on VAT related matters.
Provide VAT advice to the Group including but not limited to corporate actions and activities.
Assist with monthly, interim and year end reporting as it relates to VAT.
Ensure that proper documents and records are maintained for all VAT related transactions.
Assist business with developing annual tax budgets and providing business with consolidated tax figures.
Analyse tax variances in individual cost centres and business units and investigate reasons for movements, amend where required and provide commentary where the variance is still significant.
Provide guidance and suggestions to business units on actions to be taken to improve the tax results.
Review the tax journals processed and ensure that they accurate and completed timeously.
Ensure adherence to standard budget operating procedures among business units.
Process and update required management accounting reports as it relates to the tax figures.
Provide specialist tax support on the organisation's projects.
Ensure that adequate knowledge regarding specialisation is shared as required and maintained within the research library.
Maintain, develop and implement specialist knowledge within the day to day operations of the organisation.
Provide specialist input and recommendations to improve the efficiencies, compliance and quality objectives related to the area of specialization.
Be proactive and identify areas of improvement, develop and propose solutions to present to appropriate leaders or stakeholders.
Ensure day to day operational support required from area of specialisation is provided to enhance performance.
Implement practical solutions to operational areas that require improvement.
Support the identification, development, and implementation of cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers related to area of specialization.
Establish good working relationships with various stakeholders in different business units.
Produce financial forecasts and provide assistance and guidance where required as it relates to the area of specialization.
Provide specialist expertise and ensure best practice related to specialisation is implemented in projects, when required.
Conform to project management disciplines when participating in projects.
Represent department or project on appropriate committees related to area of specialization.
A sound understanding of the VAT legislation and an ability to interpret its requirements and apply them to the Afrocentric Group.

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and tax platforms (e.g., eFiling).
