Job summary

A recruitment consultancy is seeking a Senior Payroll Consultant to manage accurate and timely payroll processing for multiple clients. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with payroll practices, handle payroll for over 1500 employees, and provide guidance to junior consultants. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing using Sage 300 People, alongside strong Excel skills. Red Ember Recruitment is assisting a client in the recruitment of a Senior Payroll Consultant. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for multiple clients, including time and attendance, employee benefits, and maintenance of employee records. The role includes advising clients on payroll best practices and legislative compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Setup monthly payroll schedules for clients
  • Receive and process payroll input accurately (minimum 1500 employees per payroll)
  • Process multiple payrolls and import financial information for tax year-end
  • Ensure client approval is received on time and maintain job card accuracy
  • Resolve client payroll queries and run payment files
  • Issue payslips and invoices on time
  • Ensure UIF, EMP201, and EMP501 submissions are completed on time
  • Conduct tax year-end reconciliations and prepare third-party schedules if required
  • Generate WCA and EE reports, and assist clients with COIDA submissions
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and consulting as needed
  • Provide guidance to Junior Payroll Consultants
  • Maintain administrative processes and integrate Sage with surrounding business systems
  • Log unresolved queries in CRM and escalate where necessary
Requirements
  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
  • Sage 300 People certificate advantageous
  • 5+ years payroll processing experience on Sage 300 People
  • Experience handling payroll for 1500+ employees
  • Advanced computer literacy and Excel skills
