Main purpose of the role

This role will support the Actuarial Directors and Managers in the effective delivery of client engagements aimed at creating exceptional client service delivery.

The role is the central point for delivering project management activities that includes but is not limited to:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and related activities within Deloitte procedures and protocols.
  • Drive the successful initiation, planning, scheduling, execution, monitoring and closure of respective projects including proposal development, scoping, budgeting, talent allocation, coordinating team and client activities, tasks, timeframes, scope, and deadlines.
  • Assist the PMO Manager and Actuarial Managers in managing client expectations by coordinating daily engagement, holding teams accountable to technical delivery schedules, and deliverables sign-offs.
  • Prepare well-articulated, accurate and timely reporting for respective team and client stakeholder audiences.
  • Escalate material issues and risks to the respective Actuarial Manager/s.
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement and change management by way of project management training across teams.
  • Support and guide junior team members to achieve project objectives, handle challenging situations with flexibility, collaborate effectively, and present confidently to teams and peers.
  • Build direct relationships with the client, identify new client, sales and/or optimisation opportunities, and present these opportunities to Actuarial Directors and Managers.

  • Proven non-IT project management experience in Financial Services, ideally within Insurance or Banking.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the Project Management Office (PMO) strategic and operational goals.
  • Good working knowledge of different project management methodologies and tools.
  • Demonstrated delivery of complex projects within timeframes and cost.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree
  • Certification in Project Management

Minimum Experience

  • 8-10 years\' working experience, with 3-5 years\' experience in a relevant role within the Financial Services or Insurance Industry, with exposure to Actuarial and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) projects.
  • Project management fundamentals – e.g., Agile, Hybrid, Traditional, Waterfall
  • Advanced proficiency on MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Project.

Additional Information

  • This is a professional staff role (100% client-facing)
  • The role is based in Johannesburg; although we will consider candidates based in Cape Town, provided that you can work from the Cape Town office (V&A Waterfront).
  • You will be required to be at our offices a minimum of 2 days per week, and willing to travel to clients.
  • Preferable start date - 1 March 2026.
