A mission-driven non-profit organisation focused on advancing South Africas green and inclusive economy is seeking a Senior Analyst to join its Alternative Service Delivery Unit (ASDU). The organisation works with communities, government, and private stakeholders to implement innovative, sustainable infrastructure and service delivery solutionsespecially in underserved informal and rural areas.

The Senior Analyst will be a key member of the Alternative Service Delivery Unit (ASDU), part of the broader Energy Programme. The unit focuses on designing, facilitating, and implementing alternative basic service delivery models where traditional models fall shortparticularly in informal settlements and rural areas.
This role involves close collaboration with municipalities, community stakeholders, and service providers, with a strong emphasis on co-creation, innovation, and systems-level problem-solving. Regular travel to project sites across South Africa is required.
Build and maintain strong relationships with government actors, communities, and private sector stakeholders.
Work with municipal and national partners to remove institutional, planning, or financial barriers to effective service delivery.
Co-design and facilitate the implementation of on-the-ground service delivery pilot projects.
Conduct site visits and community engagements across the country.
Document lessons learned, contribute to reporting, and support internal learning and reflection processes.
Qualifications:
Postgraduate degree in Development Studies, Public Policy, (Social) Economics, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
Experience:
3 -5 years of relevant experience in community development, infrastructure, public sector, or related work.
Demonstrated understanding of South Africas local government and service delivery systems.
Experience working with community-led or participatory development approaches.
Familiarity with the challenges of service delivery in informal or rural contexts.
Knowledge of innovative or decentralised service delivery technologies is an advantage.
Skills:
Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
Ability to travel regularly.
Valid drivers licence.
Fluency in isiXhosa, isiZulu, or another South African language is a strong plus.
Monthly salary of R48,000 R52,000, including medical aid contribution.
