Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Midrand has an opportunity for a Salon Manager to join the team. The role ensures the salon performs according to Dis-Chem Salon Policies and Procedures, promotes the Nail and Beauty salons, and helps meet monthly targets. The role also supports the retail sales of products, specifically Bionike, Payot and Dis-Chem exclusive products. The Salon Manager ensures the salon team is fully trained, managed and rosters are adhered to.

  • Grade 12 - Matric and/or relevant Beauty or Nails Certificate or Diploma (NQF4)
  • Minimum of 3 years Salon Technical/Practical work experience or relevant experience within the Retail environment

Job Specification
Marketing
  • Manage the salon's marketing and promotions.
  • Recruit new customers for the salon and ensure that team members adhere to recruitment quota.
  • Plan, implement and follow ups must be done regarding promotions.
  • Adhere to marketing and promotional procedures and assist with bookings.
Sales
  • Implement strategies to achieve set monthly salon and personal targets for salon staff.
  • Assist employees in the salon to achieve monthly product and service targets.
  • Ensure correct pricing of all products and services on offer.
Administration
  • Manage and maintain the daily salon administration.
  • Review daily salon paperwork including daily sheets, financial records, ensure salon invoices get paid, birthday list, etc.
  • Keep accurate inventory counts of in-store product use to ensure stock levels meet salon needs.
  • Assist with treatment bookings and with treatments when short-staffed.
Stock Control
  • Control the salon's stock ordering and report discrepancies to the Regional Salon Manager.
  • Ensure full retail and consumable offerings are available to clients and keep accurate inventory of product lines.
  • Report products that are out of stock to the Regional Salon Manager.
  • Maintain retail consumable stock rotation within the salon.
  • Adhere to stock standard operating procedures and ensure all team members adhere to procedures.
  • Maintain accurate salon stock merchandising.
  • Report general maintenance and faulty equipment to the Regional Cosmetic Manager.
  • No delegation of orders may be made to other team members.
Operating
  • Manage daily operations within the department.
  • Manage team members and the physical upkeep of the salon and its equipment.
  • Report faulty salon equipment and/or fitments to the Salon Regional Manager.
  • Ensure all relevant equipment is in working condition and clean at all times.
  • Manage the salon's merchandise and accurate pricing of products and services on offer.
  • Report all client compliments, complaints and concerns to management as soon as possible.
Human Resource Management
  • Manage KRONOS and leave applications for all salon team members including relevant payroll activities.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reports are generated as requested.
  • Manage team members’ performance, employee changes and total employee members for your designated salon.
  • Ensure availability of team members during leave periods (traveling staff).
  • Assist the Cosmetic Manager/ Regional Salon Manager with corrective action and counselling when needed. Provide planned training and request feedback from attendees.
  • Supervise team members according to Dis-Chem standards.
  • Ensure team members conduct themselves professionally and follow Dis-Chem salon standard operating procedures.
  • Manage salon promotional activities.
  • Report faulty salon equipment and/or fitments to the Store Manager and/or Regional Salon Manager.
Customer Service
  • Build and maintain a strong client base and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Greet and interact with clients in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues in a polite and apologetic manner and strive to resolve dissatisfaction.
  • Maintain the salon in accordance with Dis-Chem standards and operating procedures.
  • The salon area must be neat and uphold Dis-Chem standards throughout the day.
  • Report customer compliments and complaints to the Regional Cosmetics Manager.
General
  • Housekeeping must be maintained to Dis-Chem standards. Ensure the salon is always clean and tidy.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to the Dis-Chem uniform and personal appearance policy.

  • Relevant Retail Management and/or Salon knowledge.
  • English – Read, write and speak well. Demonstrates clear, respectful, and professional communication with clients and staff to ensure smooth daily operations, high customer satisfaction, and strong team collaboration.
  • Builds trust and rapport with clients and staff by being approachable, attentive, and empathetic.
  • Be deadline and target driven. Maintain a neat and hygienic personal appearance at all times. Manages daily operations efficiently, even under pressure or during busy periods.
  • Provides clear instructions and feedback to salon staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel and Outlook), numerical skills and skin/body technical equipment. CRM and QlikView System.
Special conditions of employment
  • Be able and willing to work retail hours and other operational requirements.
  • Must be fit and able to perform physical job requirements.
