Overview
Sales Representative is responsible for establishing new business, maintaining existing sales, identifying leads, educating prospects on the company and providing existing customers with exceptional support.
Main Responsibilities
New Customers and Prospects :
- Identifying promising prospects through cold-calling, networking, and customer referrals.
- Presenting company structure, profile and services to customers.
- Building and development of customers’ CRM database considering energy requirements, pricing and benefits to customers.
- Develop new business opportunities within the fleet industry and maximising sales potential of existing customers.
- Sign up customers at our filling stations and all other company Gas sites as per the budgeted schedule as requested at different sites.
- Provide leads and set up appointments with private and public fleet operating companies.
- Promote and develop new businesses within the fleet and logistics industries.
- Distribute pamphlets promoting the company’s Gas to prospective public transport customers such e-hailing and taxi services.
Maintaining Current Customers :
- Maintain and develop relationships with current customers.
- Service existing customers and expand the customer base as per budget.
- Optimal retention of existing customers.
- Attend monthly Taxi Association meetings.
- Make sure taxis operate on a daily basis and meet the minimum agreed monthly volumes.
- Recover kits and associated costs from clients in the case of client defaults on agreements.
- Regular inspection of gas.
- Communicating with the taxi owners, fleet operators and taxi associations that the company is in no way liable for any issues with taxi, e.g., maintenance, services and certification.
- Coordinate between customers and operations to improve customer / company relations.
Relationship Building :
- Cultivating and maintaining relationships with current customers to ensure a continuous flow of sales revenue.
- Visit, follow up and support customers.
- Build and maintain cross-functional relationships within the company.
Networking :
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Reporting & General :
- Contact customers on a weekly basis that are not filling to capacity or not filling at all.
- Monitor competitor activities and provide feedback to the Gas Ops Manager.
- Weekly and monthly reports are set out and sent on time on the pre-agreed date.
- Arrange and coordinate for installation of the company’s gas kits, services and maintenance.
- Track and ensure the minimum monthly gas consumption is taking place for all vehicles.
- Train new customers / drivers / owners of taxis on the company system.
- Managing and coordinating sales targets and ensuring the budgets are met.
- Ensuring the gas kit installation is certified and certificate of compliance is issued and on file in collaboration with the company Gas Administrator.
- Building and developing a client base within the fleet and logistics sector.
- Building and developing a relationship with vehicle OEM and company vehicle conversion partners.
- Monitoring competitor activities and providing feedback to management.
- Report on sales and marketing progress / opportunities to Gas Manager and GM : Sales.
- Review and track sales volumes and report field activities to the Gas Manager and GM : Sales on a weekly basis.
- Update and monitor contracts and ensure contracts are completed as per the requirements.
- Daily visits and activity updates reported to the Gas Manager.
- Create a pipeline of new fleet customers.
- Create a master list of all customers ensuring changes of drivers are captured and training provided.
- All gas kit cylinders servicing are up-to-date and recorded on the contractors.
- Promote competitions and / or rebates running.
Knowledge :
- Must have experience with, and complete understanding of the inner workings of the taxi, fleet and logistics industry.
- Be assertive with good negotiation skills.
- Has reasonable technical knowledge and background.
- Can grasp technical aspects.
- Research and gather information.
- Read and write reports. Analyze information.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Good time management skills and ability to work independently.

Qualifications and Experience :
- Matric
- A minimum of 2 years’ taxi, fleet and logistics
- Valid driver’s license
- Own vehicle
- Target driven
- Actively seek out new business
