Junior Sales Person – Steel Fabrication Services

1. Role Purpose
The Junior Sales Person will be responsible for supporting the sales function by identifying new
business opportunities, generating leads, maintaining customer relationships, and promoting
the company’s metal fabrication capabilities. The role requires a motivated, energetic individual
who can learn quickly, understands basic technical concepts, and can confidently engage with
clients in the engineering, construction, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.
This role is ideal for a young professional with strong communication skills, a passion for sales,
and interest in engineering or fabrication.
2. Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Lead Generation
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across target industries (manufacturing, construction, mining, industrial engineering, fabrication).
- Conduct cold calling, emailing, social media outreach, and site visits to generate leads.
- Visit client sites to understand fabrication needs and identify opportunities for quoting.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and opportunities.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Develop strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Provide professional customer service, ensuring enquiries are responded to promptly.
- Assist clients with understanding fabrication capabilities, including materials, cutting, bending, welding, assembly, finishing, and bespoke fabrication work.
Sales Support & Quoting
- Gather technical information from clients to prepare RFQs (Request for Quotation).
- Work with internal estimators, engineers, and production teams to prepare accurate quotes.
- Assist in preparing and presenting proposals to clients.
- Follow up on outstanding quotations and convert them into sales orders.
Market Research & Intelligence
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and sector developments.
- Identify potential new sectors or applications for fabricated metal products.
Administration & Reporting
- Update CRM with all leads, opportunities, meetings, and follow‑ups.
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales activity reports.
- Ensure all documentation, contracts, and customer data are accurate and up to date.
3. Skills & Competencies Required
Essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of engineering or metal fabrication processes (training provided).
- Ability to read simple drawings OR willingness to learn.
- Confidence to meet clients, conduct site visits, and present solutions.
- Driven, target‑oriented, and self‑motivated.
- Good computer literacy (Email, MS O ice, CRM systems).
- Reliable with strong attention to detail.
Advantageous
- Any exposure to metal fabrication, welding, machining, or manufacturing.
- Existing customer relationships in relevant industries.
- Ability to understand or interpret technical drawings.
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.
4. Experience & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) essential.
- 1–2 years’ sales experience (any technical/industrial sales is beneficial).
- Strong interest in engineering, fabrication, or technical industries.
Preferred
- Technical certificate or diploma in Fabrication, Engineering, Welding, or Manufacturing (beneficial but not required).
- Past exposure to metal fabrication workshops or industrial client environments.
