Residence Facilities Officer (AD08) (AD.08.4)

Location: Johannesburg, ZA

Department: Campus Housing and Residence Life

Job Summary: Provide and manage facilities maintenance issues in all student residences, ensuring safety, compliance, and a fit-for-purpose environment.

Responsibilities
  • Set performance outputs and measurements for each direct report (Handymen team).
  • Manage team per university HR policies and processes.
  • Formulate general scope of works for minor to medium refurbishment projects.
  • Monitor budgets, manage external contractors, and report variations.
  • Liaise with stakeholders regarding execution of maintenance and other work assigned to the facilities management office.
  • Supervise team to enable effective, efficient, customer-focused service.
  • Ensure maintained or repaired areas provide a safe, fit-for-purpose environment for university community.
  • Supervise service providers as per agreed scope of work.
Minimum Requirements
  • National Diploma or equivalent in Built Environment, Architecture, Construction or Building Management.
  • Project and Facilities Management Certificate is an added advantage.
Required Years Of Work-Related Experience
  • 5–8 years in facilities management/building maintenance field dealing with general building technical issues including managing minor to medium refurbishment projects.
  • 3–5 years of management experience of Handymen team or building trades.
Desirable Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
Key Competencies
  • High level of Computer Literacy.
  • Ability to measure and draw as-built drawings in drafting packages.
  • Ability to put together a general scope of works for minor refurbishment projects.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Building audits experience.
