A prominent agricultural research institution in Pretoria seeks an individual to assist with research on insects important to veterinary health. Applicants must hold a National Diploma in Veterinary Technology, with professional SAVC membership required. The role entails maintaining a tsetse colony, assisting with field research, and training interns. A competitive remuneration package is offered, and preference will be given to designated groups in line with Employment Equity Act.
Assist with research on insects of veterinary importance in the field including Black flies, Culicoides, Stomoxys, Tabanid and Tsetse flies. Assist in the maintenance and administration of the ARC-OVR tsetse colony. Take irradiated blood for bioassays and interpret the results. Update weekly tsetse colony mortality database. Assist Researchers during field trips with trap deployment, fly collection management. Responsible for maintaining infrastructure and facilities. Responsible for training interns and providing support as needed. Adhering to all Safety and GLP rules and regulations.
National Diploma in Veterinary Technology. B-Tech in Veterinary Technology will be an added advantage. Professional membership: SAVC registration is compulsory. Good interpersonal skills. A driver's licence will be an added advantage.
