Job description
Overview

Registered Nurse Theatre – Orthopaedics Scrub at Life Groenkloof Hospital. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the RN will assist the surgical team in performing procedures and ensure patients receive optimal care in line with hospital objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Manage theatre clocking time and charge theatre equipment, stock, and prostheses accurately.
  • Participate in regular stock taking and control consignment stock in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Educate and supervise staff on the correct use of theatre equipment and instrumentation.
  • Obtain correct pre‑operative information and provide post‑operative care to patients.
  • Assist the Unit Manager in monitoring normal and overtime hours and assess staff competence.
  • Ensure the threatre team works according to scope of practice and give performance feedback to the Unit Manager.
  • Comply with personal protective clothing and ISO requirements, and dispose of medical waste to control infection.
  • Attend review meetings to maintain healthy relationships with internal stakeholders and report unresolved issues to the Unit Manager.
Requirements
  • General Nursing Degree / Diploma.
  • Registration with SANC.
  • Diploma in operating theatre technique.
  • Relevant orthopaedic experience and technical skill to meet critical outputs.
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry is an advantage.
  • Computer proficiency is an advantage.
